Some of my favorite places..

A thing or two I learned along the way.


    • Stay at the Flying Pig Downtown Hostel if you want to meet some interesting folk

    • Get out of the city and see the windmills

    • Most people roll their joints with half tobacco

    • Comply with bicycle traffic laws. Not just out of respect, but for your safety.

    • The blue lights in the Red Light District represent male-born workers

    • Don’t bother with the Truffles

    • Wear dress shoes when headed to the nightclub

    • Try a bar crawl if you are looking to meet new people

    • Learn some Spanish prior to going if possible

    • Not all tapas are created equal. Some are for a more sophisticated palate

    • The only good hotdogs are at the Cubs game.

    • Deep dish pizza isn’t as good a standard pizza

    • See the architecture from the water if possible

    • Bring sunscreen and a sun hat / protection

    • Dress in layers

    • Bring a good sleeping bag if sleeping outside

    • Keep your eyes peeled for celebrities

    • Bring a face covering for the dust (more dust in weekend 2)

    • Make friends with your neighbors

    • Hike a 14er, but do not take it lightly

    • Don’t shoot for the highest THC% when purchasing Mary Jane

    • Watch a concert at Red Rocks (take the shuttle)

    • Watch a Rockies game during sunset, sit with a view of the sun

    • Use an AWD vehicle when possible if traveling the state or driving to hikes

    • Camp at Ginnie Springs, bring your diving gear if that is your thing.

    • Look up on a clear night

    • Bring a tube for Ichetucknee Springs

    • Bring your bike

    • Bring a hammock

    • Bring water shoes if you plan on going in the water at the beach

    • Go to Rick’s for nightlife, best spot in town

    • Go to Key West Cuban Coffee shop for the breakfast tacos

    • Book a ticket to a broadway show. They are discounted when done so in the lobby on the day of

    • Take a sight seeing bus one time around the city

    • There are no available charging outlets for use near Times Square

    • Bring comfortable shoes when sightseeing as there are little to no benches as well

    • Avoid bringing a car if possible

    • Get pizza from a whole in the wall place. Ask a local.

    • Stay where the lights are

    • Bourbon Street can be too rowdy if that isn’t your speed

    • Frenchmen Street is a blues fans paradise

    • Just any gloves won’t do when preparing for the cold. Buy gloves that will stop the wind.

    • There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear.

    • Check out Purgatory, it is a bar near downtown. Best Espresso Martini I’ve Ever Had.

    • Learn something about yourself on the Angels Landing hike. Make it to the top. In the Winter you will deal with ice (bring crampons). In the Summer you will deal with crowds, pick your poison.

    • When leaving the city, avoid driving at night if possible.

    • Park City is a skiers paradise

    • More homeless than you can imagine

    • There are some free marijuana lounges that will allow you to be high in peace

    • It still gets cold in the summer

    • Good luck finding parking near China Town, but give it a visit

    • The streets near the water are ridiculously steep

    • You will find sea lions on the pier, accompanied by a foul foul smell

    • Even the dry season gets rainy.

    • Rent a car and get out of the city if possible.

    • Bring cash (USD accepted in many places)

    • Stay at The Springs Resort & Spa at Arenal if you can spare the expense. Very low profile, don’t expect a party here.

    • Ziplining is kinda like jetskiing. It’s real cool for the first hour but then you’re pretty worn out.

    • Book a whale watching tour (one with high sight %)

    • Get free snack samples at Pike’s Place Market

    • Book a day trip to Victoria and/or Vancouver

    • The space needle is a cool view, but that’s about it

    • Go for Halloween

    • Go all out for your costume

    • Be friendly to your neighbors

    • Bring a bike

    • Get there early to find a good spot

    • Avoid the showers if possible

    • Bring wet wipes

    • Pack all the goodies you need

    • Find a bike or scooter and don’t let it go. This will make seeing the sites much much easier and enjoyable

    • When parking in garages, they will search your vehicle for weapons prior to allowing you inside

    • Don’t breeze past the memorials, take them in.

    • The quality of roads here is awful. Watch your tires, and alignment.
